What Am I Believing?
The Inner Healing Experience
Heart Check
What Am I Believing?
“Above all else, guard your heart, for everything you do flows from it.” — Proverbs 4:23 (NIV)
Kingdom Truth
Your life will often move in the direction of what you truly believe.
Not what you say you believe.
Not what you hope to believe.
But what has taken root in your heart.
Many of us have accepted beliefs that were never planted by God. Some came through painful experiences. Others came through words spoken over us, disappointments we never processed, or repeated patterns that slowly shaped the way we see ourselves.
Without realizing it, those beliefs begin to influence our decisions, our relationships, our confidence, and even our faith.
Healing isn’t just about changing behavior.
It’s about allowing God to transform what you’ve believed about yourself, others, and Him.
❤️ Heart Check
Ask yourself:
What am I believing today?
Don’t answer quickly.
Sit with the question.
Ask the Holy Spirit to reveal any belief that is shaping your heart but does not align with God’s truth.
What’s Really Happening?
Sometimes our beliefs sound like this:
I’ll never be enough.
Everyone leaves.
I have to earn love.
If I make a mistake, I’ve failed.
God must be disappointed in me.
My past will always define me.
I’ll never change.
I have to do everything myself.
If I let people in, they’ll hurt me.
My prayers don’t matter.
These thoughts may feel true because they’ve been repeated for years.
But feelings are not always facts.
As followers of Christ, our beliefs must be measured against God’s Word—not our wounds.
God’s Truth
God’s Word speaks a different story.
When shame says, “You’re not enough,”
God says,
“You are fearfully and wonderfully made.” (Psalm 139:14)
When fear says,
“You’re alone,”
God says,
“I will never leave you nor forsake you.” (Hebrews 13:5)
When your past says,
“You’ll never change,”
God says,
“If anyone is in Christ, he is a new creation.” (2 Corinthians 5:17)
When insecurity says,
“You don’t have what it takes,”
God says,
“My grace is sufficient for you, for My power is made perfect in weakness.” (2 Corinthians 12:9)
God’s truth has the power to uproot every lie we’ve allowed to take root.
Inner Healing Practice
Today, write down one belief you’ve been carrying.
Then ask yourself:
Where did this belief come from?
Does this belief agree with God’s Word?
What does God say instead?
What truth do I need to begin believing today?
Don’t rush the process.
Healing often begins with replacing one lie with one truth.
Journal Prompt
Complete these sentences:
The belief I’ve been carrying is…
This belief has affected me by…
God’s truth says…
Today I choose to believe…
Today’s Prayer
Father,
Search my heart and reveal every belief that does not come from You.
Expose every lie I’ve accepted about myself, my past, my future, and even about You.
Replace fear with faith.
Replace shame with grace.
Replace rejection with acceptance.
Replace insecurity with confidence in Christ.
Renew my mind and transform my heart so that what I believe reflects Your truth instead of my wounds.
Help me recognize Your voice above every other voice.
Today, I choose to believe what You say about me.
In Jesus’ name,
Amen.
Spirit • Soul • Body Insight
Spirit
Truth strengthens our relationship with God and deepens our faith.
Soul
Our beliefs shape our thoughts, emotions, attitudes, and decisions. When our minds are renewed by God’s Word, our hearts begin to heal.
Body
False beliefs often produce physical responses such as stress, anxiety, tension, exhaustion, and emotional fatigue. As our hearts find peace in God’s truth, our bodies often experience greater rest and calm.
Declaration
Today I reject every lie that contradicts God’s Word.
I choose truth over fear.
I choose faith over doubt.
I choose my identity in Christ over the labels of my past.
My heart is being renewed.
My mind is being transformed.
I am walking in freedom.
