✍🏽 Find Your Voice Friday: You See Your Voice Clearly When You See Yourself Correctly

A lot of people think finding their voice is about confidence.

It’s not.

It’s about identity.

Because if you don’t see yourself clearly…

you won’t write yourself clearly.

And that’s where most writers struggle.

Not with words…

but with how they see themselves.

The Real Reason Your Voice Feels Unclear

Your voice is not hidden.

It’s revealed through how you see:

  • who you are

  • what you’ve been through

  • and what it all means

But if your identity is shaped by:

  • past pain

  • rejection

  • or survival

Then your voice will reflect that distortion.

Not because your story isn’t powerful…

but because your perspective isn’t aligned yet.

Teachable Moment

I’ve worked with writers who say:

“I don’t know what my voice is.”

But when we walk through their story…

the issue becomes clear.

They’ve been seeing themselves through:

  • what hurt them

  • what failed

  • what didn’t work

Instead of seeing themselves through truth.

And when your identity is unclear…

your voice will be too.

Foundation Scripture

“So God created man in his own image,

in the image of God created he him…”

— Genesis 1:27 (KJV)

Your voice is not random.

It is shaped from identity.

And your identity was never meant to be defined by what happened to you…

but by who you were created to be.

Why This Matters for Your Writing

When you begin to see yourself correctly:

  • your voice becomes more confident

  • your message becomes more grounded

  • your writing becomes more intentional

Because now you’re not writing from:

  • insecurity

  • confusion

  • or performance

You’re writing from truth.

Voice Truth

You don’t find your voice by trying to sound like someone else.

You find your voice when:

  • you see yourself clearly

  • you accept your story honestly

  • and you align with truth fully

Your voice is not something you create.

It’s something you uncover.
