Who Are You Listening To?

One Breath. One Scripture. One Thought.

There comes a moment in every season when we have to pause and ask ourselves an honest question: Who am I actually listening to right now? Not who I say I trust. Not who I quote. But whose voice is shaping my decisions, my emotions, and my expectations.

One Breath

I inhale discernment and exhale distraction.

I quiet every competing sound and lean into the voice that brings peace, clarity, and truth. I

So much of life is lived responding to noise. Noise from people who mean well but don’t carry wisdom for this season. Noise from past versions of ourselves that learned to survive but not to rest. Noise from fear that sounds logical, familiar, and even protective. And sometimes, the loudest voice isn’t external at all—it’s the internal commentary shaped by wounds, disappointments, or unmet desires.

One Scripture

“My sheep hear my voice, and I know them, and they follow me.”

— John 10:27 (KJV)

This scripture reminds me that hearing God is not a special skill reserved for a few, it’s the nature of relationship. Sheep recognize the shepherd’s voice because they’ve learned it through closeness. Through time. Through trust. Through repeated exposure. Which also means this: if another voice is louder, it’s usually because I’ve spent more time listening to that one.

One Thought

The voice you listen to most will eventually become the voice you believe. And the voice you believe will determine how you move.

When Holy Spirit is leading, there is clarity, even if the path isn’t fully revealed. There is peace, even if the decision requires faith. There is alignment, even if it stretches you. But when fear leads, everything feels urgent. When people lead, approval becomes the goal. When old wounds lead, self-protection overrides obedience.

Discernment isn’t just about recognizing what sounds spiritual, it’s about noticing what produces peace, truth, and alignment with God’s character. Any voice that pushes you into striving, confusion, condemnation, or comparison deserves to be questioned.

Today, I’m choosing to turn the volume down on every voice that competes with Holy Spirit. I’m choosing to sit long enough to recognize His tone again. To trust that His voice is steady, consistent, and never rushed. To remember that I don’t need louder answers, I need clearer alignment.

This is an invitation to pause.

To listen again.

And to let the Shepherd’s voice lead, not the noise.
