✍🏽 Wisdom Wednesday: Why Wisdom Matters When You Write Your Story
Writing your story is powerful.
But without wisdom…
it can also be harmful.
And that’s something many writers don’t realize until they’re already overwhelmed, exposed, or unsure of what they just released.
Because writing is not just about expression.
It’s about discernment.
Why Wisdom Is Necessary in Writing
Not everything you’ve been through
is meant to be written the same way…
or at the same time.
Wisdom helps you:
know what to share
know how to share it
and know when you’re ready to share it
Because just because something happened…
doesn’t mean it’s processed.
And if it’s not processed, it can come out:
unstructured
emotionally heavy
or unclear in its message
The Difference Between Expression and Wisdom
Expression says:
“Let me get this out.”
Wisdom says:
“Let me understand what I’m saying first.”
Expression releases emotion.
Wisdom builds message.
And if you skip wisdom…
you risk writing from a place that still needs healing.
Teachable Moment
I’ve worked with writers who thought they were ready to tell their story…
but once they started writing, they realized:
“I don’t know what I’m trying to say.”
That’s not a writing problem.
That’s a wisdom gap.
Because wisdom doesn’t just help you write…
it helps you interpret your own experience.
Foundation Scripture
“Wisdom is the principal thing; therefore get wisdom:
and with all thy getting get understanding.”
— Proverbs 4:7 (KJV)
Wisdom and understanding work together.
Wisdom gives direction.
Understanding gives clarity.
And your writing needs both.
What Wisdom Does for Your Writing
When you write with wisdom:
your story becomes clear
your message becomes intentional
your voice becomes grounded
You’re no longer just telling people what happened…
You’re showing them:
what it meant
what it taught you
and how it transformed you
Wisdom Truth
Your story is not just something you release.
It’s something you steward.
And wisdom is what ensures:
you don’t just tell your story…
you build from it.
